Frequently Asked Questions

STAY AT HOME SERVICES

What does the home environment report include?

The home environment report is prepared based upon a home safety checklist and home inspection. It includes information as to the current situation and recommendations for improvements to make your home safer and more “senior-friendly”.

Is it the same for everyone?

Yes and no. The basic format is approved by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission. However, the recommendations are tailored to individual or family needs. For example, if a member of the household is hard of hearing, suggestions may included phone amplifiers, lighted doorbell alert, etc.

How do we implement the changes?

You will choose from the list of recommendations and we will customize a home modification package for you. We will provide an estimate and our contractor will do the work.

Who pays for the work?

The home environment inspection is paid for by the homeowner. In some cases, the long-term care insurance policy will pay for the modifications. We will work with you to find the most economical solution.

MOVING SERVICES

Where do I start?

Call us for a free home consultation. Our move coordinator will discuss the sorting, packing and moving steps with you using our Planning Guide.

How do I find out about my housing choices?

We can provide information customized to your needs and desires for budget constraints, location and service requirements.

What if I want to sell some of my things?

We will work with you and arrange for appraisal of special items or the entire contents of the house. We work with several companies so you can get information from many sources before making a decision.

Who will help me move into the new place?

Your move coordinator will be there to oversee the final packing and moving day activities. We will be there when your belongings arrive and help unpack and settle you into your new home. We will remove the packing materials and set up the phone, TV, lamps, etc.

What about my dog or cat?

If your new home can accommodate your pet, then so can we! Special transportation arrangements will be made to see that your pet arrives safely.
